Magical Advent in Maria Alm
A magical sojourn - Live like a Queen
Advent is a time of wintry magic and contemplative joy that permeates every corner of my home. Festive, wintry decorations adorn the rooms, while lovely scents pamper the senses.
I, the QUEEN of the HOCHKÖNIGIN, cordially invite you to visit me during this magical time and experience the magic of Advent in Maria Alm up close!
Winter magic on the Steinernes Meer
There is a lot to discover in my area during Advent. The magical Christmas markets in Maria Alm and the surrounding area await your visit. If you are looking for something special and unique, you will find it here. Traditional arts and crafts, local delicacies, Christmas sounds and festively decorated streets will make your eyes light up. My special tip: the pilgrimage Advent in Maria Alm with nativity scene exhibition. This takes place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 23.12.2023. In addition to romantic horse-drawn carriage rides, breathtaking light installations and a labyrinth of lights around the pilgrimage church, sensual sounds can be heard at Advent concerts.
For a day trip ...
If you are looking for the perfect destination for a magical day trip, there are many nearby destinations such as Salzburg, Zell am See or Kitzbühel. In addition to beautiful Christmas markets, sights such as the Mittersill National Park Worlds (free with the Hochkönig Card) are well worth a visit.
Christmas cuisine
During Advent, my guests can look forward to many Christmas delicacies. Enjoy and be pampered like a queen! Our top chefs attach great importance to regionality, quality and seasonality - and you can taste it. With a great deal of creativity and love for the art of cooking, they conjure up new culinary highlights on your plate every day and create the crowning glory of every winter's day.
A sweet temptation
Deliciously fragrant cookies are simply part of the Christmas season. Have you already filled your cookie tins to the brim? If not, then try my favorite cookie recipe - Austrian cinnamon stars:
Ingredients:
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 300 g almonds (grounded)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 pkg vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 3 egg whites
- 1 dash of lemon juice
For the work surface:
- 50 g powdered sugar
Preparation:
To make the cinnamon stars, first use a hand mixer to beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until very stiff, then stir in the lemon juice and powdered sugar to create a nice creamy, white mixture. The longer you mix, the better (up to 8 minutes).
Then pour 5-6 tablespoons of the mixture into a separate container, seal airtight and chill.
Add the ground almonds, cinnamon and vanilla sugar to the remaining mixture and knead into a compact dough. Wrap the dough in cling film and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 170 °C top and bottom heat.
Sprinkle some powdered sugar on a work surface and roll out the dough to a thickness of approx. 3-4 mm. Cut out small stars from the dough and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. To prevent the dough from sticking, dip the star cutters in sugar again and again.
Now take the cooled egg white icing out of the fridge, spread it on the stars and bake for approx. 15 minutes at 170 °C, top and bottom heat.
Leave to cool and enjoy.
Now light the candles, make yourself comfortable on the sofa, close your eyes and enjoy the cookies. Think of me, the QUEEN of the HOCHKÖNIGIN, and of your next stay with us.
The entire TEAM OF THE QUEEN is looking forward to seeing you!
From the bottom of our hearts,
Your QUEEN
